A series of glazes inspired by the Northwoods of Minnesota. These finishes are the result of carefully blending and layering glazes over the surface of either our classic red stoneware or warm speckle stoneware. The resulting finishes in varying shades earth tones and patterns are reminiscent of tree bark, lake stones, flowing rivers, later winter thaw and mossy canyons. Glazes flow and swirl together creating patterns and textures that are uniquely one of a kind to each item.
A dramatic and fun shape these tankard style mugs have a sturdy wide base tapering slightly to the rim. A little oversized, they have a generously rounded handed for a comfortable and sturdy hold.
Tavern Mugs are all approximately 4.5" Tall and hold 16-18 oz.
Trails End: Like the dramatic, haunting, moody landscape near the end of the iconic Gun Flint Trail, this glaze has a soft smokey grey look and feel, with a slight variation in tone and texture. Depending on how this glaze fires from one batch to the next, there may be some dramatic red-brown breaking around the rim and/or heavy or light speckling throughout. Think toasty marshmallows, smokey campfires and cozy rainy days.

When purchasing artisan handmade products it is understood there is a gift of human imperfection and character present in every item--character and soul that is absent from mass produced machine made homewares. Everything from the weather, to the temperature of the clay, to my mood the day I am working has an effect on your handmade items. Some items are glazed a little more heavily from one batch to the next. Some handles come out a little lighter while others come out more robust. These are all characteristics of artisan made products crafted with human hands and soul. Slight variations in shape, size, glaze application are to be expected and cherished for their very personal and human touch.
Because of this, returns and exchanges are not accepted, except for in the event products arrive damaged in shipping, in which case a replacement or refund will be issued.
